  • My mail bag is delicious at the moment with entries for the School Marketing Awards. A striking bright red prospectus from Emmanuel College in Victoria arrived this week. Director of Marketing, Jean Christie, said the outreach document was developed fully in-house on a low budget using a powerful two-word theme, “Definitely Emmanuel.’”

  • I overheard two parents talking to a student from Rostrevor College at the expo. They asked the student how they would get to the school from their place (hard question). The student picked up one of the iPad on the table, pulled up a google map and quickly plotted a route for them. Could even tell them the buses to catch. Wow, the parents were impressed!

  • No thanks, too busy for school expo

    On evaluation forms, parents at the expo overwhelming said they wanted to see more schools. Some named particular schools they were looking for and expressed disappointment they were not there, still they said “there are plenty of others to look at.” The organisers explained that every school in SA had been invited to the expo.

  • Wedding gift to school

    When a former student from Newington College (Sydney) was married this year, he asked his wedding guests to make a donation to Newington’s Indigenous Bursary, instead of buying gifts. The Development Office received a welcome surprise of several thousand dollars. What a stunning idea - a fine example of generosity and philanthropy, and it says a lot about the calibre of the young men educated at Newington!
